PRINCIPAL MEMBER – BUILDING DESIGN

$762 per annum + GST

For QBCC-licensed Building Designers practising within Queensland’s built environment.
Principal Membership represents BDQ’s highest professional Building Design membership and recognises practitioners who have achieved the licensing and professional requirements of their discipline.

Principal Members may operate their own practice or work within a design, building, construction, development or multidisciplinary organisation.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold an appropriate current QBCC Building Design licence and be covered by appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance, either personally, through their practice or through their employer.

Terms & Conditions

  1. The applicant must hold a current individual QBCC Building Design licence appropriate to their professional activities at the time of application.
  2. The applicant must be covered by current and appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance applicable to their Building Design activities. Coverage may be held personally, through the applicant’s practice or through their employer.
  3. The applicant must provide their QBCC licence number and, where requested by BDQ, evidence of current Professional Indemnity Insurance and other information reasonably required to assess eligibility.
  4. The applicant must notify BDQ of any suspension, cancellation, restriction or other material change to their QBCC licence or Professional Indemnity Insurance during their membership.
  5. Membership is held by the individual and is not transferable.
  6. BDQ may verify the applicant’s licensing, Professional Indemnity Insurance and professional status.
  7. As a condition of membership, members agree to comply with the BDQ Code of Conduct and applicable BDQ policies.
  8. Membership is an annual 12-month subscription. Where BDQ permits payment by monthly instalments, those instalments are a payment arrangement for the annual subscription and do not constitute month-to-month membership.
  9. Membership applications are subject to assessment and approval in accordance with the BDQ Rules of Association.
  10. Membership remains subject to the BDQ Rules of Association, Code of Conduct and applicable BDQ policies.
PRINCIPAL MEMBER – INTERIOR DESIGN

$762 per annum + GST

For qualified Interior Designers practising professionally within Queensland’s built environment.

Principal Membership recognises established Interior Design professionals and provides a dedicated professional home within BDQ for Queensland’s Interior Design community.

Principal Members may operate their own practice or work within an Interior Design, architectural, Building Design, building, construction, development or multidisciplinary organisation.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a recognised Interior Design qualification and satisfy the requirements for membership under the current BDQ Rules of Association.

  1. The applicant must hold a recognised Interior Design qualification acceptable to BDQ and satisfy the eligibility requirements of the current BDQ Rules of Association.
  2. The applicant must provide evidence of their qualification and professional status where requested by BDQ.
  3. As Interior Design is not subject to the same Queensland occupational licensing framework as Building Design, acceptance into membership represents BDQ membership recognition and does not constitute statutory registration or licensing.
  4. Membership is held by the individual and is not transferable.
  5. BDQ may verify the applicant’s qualifications and professional status.
  6. As a condition of membership, members agree to comply with the BDQ Code of Conduct and applicable BDQ policies.
  7. Membership is an annual 12-month subscription. Where BDQ permits payment by monthly instalments, those instalments are a payment arrangement for the annual subscription and do not constitute month-to-month membership.
  8. Membership applications are subject to assessment and approval in accordance with the BDQ Rules of Association.

ASSOCIATED INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL

$762 per annum + GST

For qualified professionals working alongside Queensland’s Building Design and Interior Design communities.

This membership connects the broader professional expertise contributing to better design and better built outcomes across Queensland.

Suitable professions may include Building Certifiers, Town Planners, Engineers, Energy Assessors, Architects, Landscape Architects, tertiary educators and other approved built-environment professionals.

Eligibility: Applicants must be appropriately qualified, registered or licensed where required for their profession and satisfy the requirements for membership under the current BDQ Rules of Association.

  2. Applicants must hold the qualifications, registrations, accreditations or licences legally required to undertake their professional activities.
  3. Applicants must satisfy the eligibility requirements for membership under the current BDQ Rules of Association.
  4. BDQ may request evidence of qualification, registration, accreditation, licence or professional status.
  5. Acceptance as an Associated Industry Professional does not represent BDQ certification or licensing of the applicant’s professional services.
  6. Membership is held by the individual and is not transferable.
  7. As a condition of membership, members agree to comply with the BDQ Code of Conduct and applicable BDQ policies.

PRACTICE MEMBER

$196 per annum + GST

For qualified Building Designers and Interior Designers working professionally within Queensland’s design and built-environment industries.

Practice Membership recognises qualified Designers working as employees within industry who are not otherwise eligible for Principal Membership.

Building Design
For qualified Building Designers working within a Building Design, building, construction, development or other approved organisation, where Building Design work is undertaken within the appropriate QBCC licensing framework.

Interior Design
For qualified Interior Designers working within an Interior Design, Building Design, architectural, building, construction, development, multidisciplinary or other approved professional practice.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a recognised Building Design or Interior Design qualification and be employed in a relevant professional role. Building Design applicants must undertake Building Design work within an appropriate QBCC-licensed environment.

  1. Applicants must hold a recognised Building Design or Interior Design qualification acceptable to BDQ.
  2. The applicant must be employed in a role substantially connected with their relevant design discipline.
  3. Building Design applicants must undertake their Building Design activities within an appropriate QBCC licensing framework. BDQ may require details of the relevant employer, licensed entity, nominee or appropriately licensed practitioner.
  4. Interior Design applicants must be employed within an Interior Design or other relevant professional or built-environment organisation approved by BDQ.
  5. Practice Membership does not represent or imply that a Building Design Practice Member personally holds a QBCC Building Design licence.
  6. Practice Members must not use their membership to imply licensing, registration or professional status they do not independently hold.
  7. BDQ may request evidence of qualifications, employment and relevant professional status.
  8. As a condition of membership, members agree to comply with the BDQ Code of Conduct and applicable BDQ policies.

Graduate Membership supports qualified Building Design and Interior Design graduates as they build professional experience, establish their careers and progress towards professional membership.

Eligibility: Applicants must have completed a recognised Building Design or Interior Design qualification and satisfy the requirements for membership under the current BDQ Rules of Association.

  4. Graduate Membership is an administrative membership designation operated within the requirements of the current BDQ Rules of Association.

For students taking their first steps towards a career in Queensland’s design and built-environment industry.

Student Membership connects emerging professionals with the profession while they study, providing opportunities to learn, participate, build industry relationships and begin their professional journey with BDQ.

Eligibility: Applicants must be bona fide students undertaking study through an institution aligned with Building Design or associated industries and must not otherwise qualify as a Member under the current BDQ Rules of Association.
